About Me

I grew up with a love of all things science. I received a Ph.D. in astrophysics from Princeton university in 2016, and I am now a postdoc at the University of Michigan. Somehow, I managed to rope myself into the writing game, so I’m also a part-time science fiction writer. Here, I share my thoughts on science, fiction, and anything else that comes to mind.

I’ve written several science fiction books and short stories that I am (for the moment) trying to publish through traditional channels, but I have posted several of my short stories here that have not been accepted by the major magazines. I also post book and movie reviews, interesting science news stories, occasional commentary on current events, and just cool science facts.

By way of full disclosure, all of the views expressed on this blog are my own. Posts are not sponsored by any outside person or organization unless otherwise noted.

    Informed sci-fi! Alright!
I love seeing fiction cross with other areas of a person’s studies or experience. Looking forward to some good material here 🙂

Hey Alex. Don’t know if you remember me, but we attended several writing groups together at the Princeton Public Library. I found your blog when I did a google search for the magic spreadsheet, which I learned about from you. Would love to catch up with how you’re doing. Find me on facebook or just email: kedwin31@gmail.com

    Hi Alex.

I stumbled upon your blog earlier today as I tried to find the answer to a What If? reject (https://alexrhowe.com/2014/10/18/what-if-rejects-1-1-teeth/). I’ve been exploring some of your other work like your short stories, and I have to say, I’m a fan. I’m currently in my junior year of high school and an aspiring writer. I would also love to be an astrophysicist but unfortunately my math isn’t very strong (I’m a giant space geek nonetheless!)

I’ve known about your blog for less than a day but it’s already inspired me and given me thoughts that go in so many different directions. I’d love to pick your brain and I’d really appreciate it if you’d shoot me an email. Thanks 🙂
